In 973 AD Edgar is crowned here as the King of all England. King Edgar was the only king coronated in this Abbey.
In 1244 AD, Bath Abbey is given Cathedral status.
In 1539 AD, King Henry VIII starts his rampage to close all Catholic Churches. The monks left the Abbey and the Cathedral started to decay.
In 1573 AD, Queen Elizabeth I gives permission to raise funds for restoration of the Abbey.
By 1620 AD, the restoration was completed.

Notice the tombs and wall tablets. The Abbey has more gravestones than any other church in England with a total of 1500.

A Beautiful and quiet place to pray…
