What a beautiful day to visit Chastleton House. This Jacobean country house was built in 1602 of Cotswold stone around a small courtyard.
I was told that I needed to see this home because it is completely preserved and unaltered from it’s original build. Every detail from paintings, textiles and furnishings remain the same. It’s as if you have stepped back into time. A true gem to see.
Look at the symmetry in below picture. Also notice there is not a front door facing the drive. It is off to the side at the top of the front steps. This is to adhere to the discipline of symmetry in the architecture of the home.

Look at all the English Oak. Notice varying colors due to exposure of light.

The importance of ceiling decoration showed wealth and influence.

My feet on 400 year old oak

I just liked this…

The original kitchen. Untouched. The ceilings are black from the stove from cooking. Totally preserved.

This table is 400 years old. Imagine the cooks cutting and preparing food on this table for the guests upstairs.

An incredible day of sightseeing and soaking in Cotswold history.

Sarah-
The pics are amazing!! I hope you helped those poor plants back into their pots (by birdcage)! 😆
Looks like a trip of a lifetime!
